'Man of the Match': Pundit says Man City actually had an even better performer than Kovacic in Fulham win

Manchester City are back to winning ways in the Premier League after beating Fulham 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City were given a real game by the Cottagers and were slightly fortunate to come away with all three points.

The visitors had a string of very reasonable chances, with their wastefulness costing them.

City were more clinical in the end, with Mateo Kovacic on target twice for City and Jeremy Doku also opening his account in the Premier League.

Kovacic and Doku have been getting plenty of plaudits for their contributions yesterday as the goalscorers.

But former City defender Andy Morrison has moved to praise Ederson for his performance against Fulham.

Traore was always going to be a big danger, with the Spaniard having had previous at the Etihad when he played for Wolves.

But he finished the game without a goal to his name on Saturday and that was thanks to Ederson, who pulled off several saves.

Traore was played in in the first-half and got away from Rico Lewis, but Ederson saved with an outstretched leg.

Later in the half, Ederson made himself big to deny Traore from close range after a ball across from the right side from Alex Iwobi.

Then in the second-half, Traore burst clear of Kyle Walker but saw his shot saved by Ederson who again made himself big.

Speaking after the game, Morrison said of the Brazilian on City's official YouTube channel: "For me, man of the match.

"Traore in the first-half, when he got the other side of Lewis, brilliant, stood up and then that left foot just hanging out to deflect it wide.

"Again in the second-half, when Traore got the other side of Walker, used his power, Ederson stood up big and strong. Brilliant defending from Ederson."

A big performance from Ederson City were not at their best against Fulham, but the only thing that matters right now is picking up wins and keeping pace with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.

Had Ederson not been at his very best on Saturday, City would surely have dropped two, possibly even three points against Fulham.

Traore undoubtedly should have done better for Fulham.

But take nothing away from Ederson, who made it as difficult as possible for Traore on three separate occasions.

He sometimes comes in for criticism for his shot-stopping, but Ederson came in clutch for City yesterday against a very good side.
