Report: Man City eyeing transfer swoop for 'important' PL star who has impressed Mbappe

Manchester City are reportedly interested in securing a summer transfer deal for Evan Ferguson.

The Citizens have a track record when it comes to signing players from fellow Premier League clubs such as Kalvin Phillips, Jack Grealish and Riyad Mahrez to name a few.

Now though, even though Pep Guardiola's side have some big games ahead of them before the next transfer window opens, the club have already set their sights on signing another top-flight figure this summer.

With 23 senior appearances for Brighton to his name across all competitions this season, prior to tonight's league clash against City, the 18-year-old has scored 10 goals and delivered three assists.

With that in mind, it's easy to see why the Brighton starlet has caught the attention of other clubs in the Premier League based off what he's done in this campaign.

Despite being so young, the teenager has already caught the attention of one of Europe's top talents as Kylian Mbappe had this to say about Ferguson back in March before France took on Ireland in their Euro qualifier.

He said: "We saw some clips of him. It's his first season as a striker, an important striker for that team. But we hope tomorrow that it is not good for him, we want to win and we want to do a good job. But he is a good player."

With the Citizens already having their own couple of fairly young strikers in the shape of Haaland and Julian Alvarez, this may make a move for the Irishman look rather unnecessary for the league champions.

However, with Haaland being constantly mentioned with a move to Real Madrid and Alvarez being recently linked with Bayern Munich, it could be said that the club see Ferguson as a potential figure for the future.
