Tomas Soucek stunned by 'special' West Ham teammate
Source: Hammers

Tomas Soucek has just absolutely raved about one of his West Ham United teammates in particular.

West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek scored the winning goal for us against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, but his performance on the whole really was poor.

However, that's a discussion for another day. Today, it's all about one of Soucek's 'special' teammates.

Hammers boss David Moyes brought James Ward-Prowse to the London Stadium from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

The 29-year-old has been sensational for us so far, with 10 assists and two goals to his name in just 17 games - quite an incredible return really when you think about it.

However, he was ignored for the latest England squad by Gareth Southgate, and the West Ham ace took a clear swipe at the Three Lions boss for that decision.

Ward-Prowse showed Southgate exactly what he's missing with two superb assists on Sunday...

And Soucek has shared just how good the 29-year-old is from dead-ball situations, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

"It's true that James Ward-Prowse's deliveries are special. On the first day he came, everyone expected it and we said 'Oh, come on, bro. Show us your quality' and he did it from the first day, putting in great balls. We know that we have great big lads in the box and with his delivery we have so many, many chances and even Jarrod [Bowen] scored too. Many times we have scored from the set pieces and it's great when we can help get some big wins for us."

Ward-Prowse has added so much to our play inside the final third since he moved to the London Stadium for around PS30 million from St Mary's.

The 29-year-old has obvious quality from set-pieces, but he is far from a one trick pony, let me tell you. His technical ability and composure when in possession of the football has helped us massively this season.

All I will say is that Moyes absolutely cannot play him in the deep-lying midfield position any more - we have all seen enough to know that he doesn't possess the physical attributes needed for that role.
