Mikel Arteta response to Man City FFP charges emerges as Arsenal await outcome
Source:Football

Arsenal and every other Premier League club are still waiting for an outcome regarding Manchester City's FFP investigation. The reigning Premier League champions have been charged after allegedly breaching the league's financial rules over 100 times between 2009 and 2018.

City have strongly denied the charges with the investigation still ongoing as fans of rival clubs eagerly await an outcome to the long and arduous legal battle. Punishments and sanctions could include fines, points deductions and league expulsions.

Mikel Arteta, whose Arsenal side are going head-to-head with City for this season's Premier League title, has already responded when asked about the charges facing Pep Guardiola's side. However, the Gunners boss refused to be drawn on any of the recent accusations.

"Not making any comment on that, I'm sorry," Arteta said back in February earlier this year when asked about the investigation. When asked if he'd ever seen anything untoward during his time at the Etihad Stadium, he added: "I can't respond to that question, because I'd be responding to the previous question and I don't want to do that."

The statement went on to list said breaches with five separate points made on the rulings, before adding: "Commissions are independent of the Premier League and member clubs. The members of the Commission will be appointed by the independent Chair of the Premier League Judicial Panel, in accordance with Premier League Rules W.19, W.20 and W.26.

The Gunners could potentially benefit greatly if City are found guilty - but they continue to await the outcome of the investigation.
