Liverpool return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Manchester City at the Etihad.

The Reds will arrive in Manchester just a single point behind the champions, with the title race beginning to take shape. Jurgen Klopp's team is unbeaten in five Premier League games since losing to Tottenham Hotspur in controversial fashion on September 30.

However, as the Reds prepare to return to action and then continue their Europa League campaign, talk of transfers remains, despite the fact that the winter window doesn't open until January 1.

But talk is already underway about what could happen in the upcoming transfer window, and with that in mind, we have rounded up the latest transfer gossip involving the Reds.

Leroy Sane

Bayern Munich should reportedly be worried about Liverpool's growing interest in Leroy Sane and the possibility of a move in the coming months.

That's according to Sky Germany, via Sport Witness, who are reporting that the attacker's newfound maturity could cause problems for Bayern. Sane is under contract at the Allianz Arena.

Meanwhile, former forward turned pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft has claimed that Bayern have opened talks with Sane over a deal. Writing on X, he said: "RE: Leroy Sane. Contract till 25. Bayern have started talking about an extension. Liverpool following his situation closely, Manchester City would love him back and Real Madrid is always on a player's mind. Got a feeling that Bayern will get him to sign."

Kalvin Phillips

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are eyeing a potential January move for Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

The report claims that the Reds are in the market for a defensive midfielder ahead of the January window and are long-term admirers of Phillips. It is further claimed that both West Ham United and Juventus are interested in signing the England international.

Speaking about the midfielder's future last month, City boss Pep Guardiola said: "If he decides to do it [leave], then do it. If the agreement is not done, then he stays.

"He's behaving incredibly. One of the most generous players I've ever seen, honestly, as I don't want to compliment when players don't play matches. Others are maybe problems in locker rooms; it's completely the opposite."

Valentin Barco

Liverpool are the latest club to be linked with a move for Boca Juniors defender Valentin Barco.

According to Italian publication Calciomercato, via Sport Witness, the Reds and Juventus are among the clubs to have set their eyes on the 19-year-old. The report goes on to claim that Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion are also keen on the versatile player, who is under contract at Boca until December 2024.

Earlier this month, Globo Esporte reported Liverpool were one of the clubs to have sent a scout to watch the Copa Libertadores final between Boca Juniors and Fluminense. Fernando Diniz's side came out on top, winning 2-1.
