Danny Murphy has now made a comment about Josko Gvardiol ahead of the Premier League clash between Manchester City and Liverpool on Saturday.

The 46-year-old was analysing the game when writing for the Daily Mail.

So, what was written about Josko Gvardiol? Let's take a look...

What's the story? Well, the man from Chester thinks the Croatia international could face a tough time up against Mohamed Salah if he decides to push forward from left-back on Saturday.

Gvardiol struggled a bit with his positioning in the bizarre 4-4 draw against Chelsea before the international break, finding himself caught out as Reece James assisted Raheem Sterling to make it 2-1.

Now, Murphy has tipped the PS200,000-a-week man to struggle if he delivers a similar performance against Salah at the Etihad Stadium.

He wrote: "I'm struggling to think of a front three better equipped to take advantage than Mo Salah, Nunez and Diaz. Josko Gvardiol will have the same issue if he steps up from left-back. He's a fantastic player but struggled at Chelsea. Guardiola has a perfect right to play his way - look at the trophies he's won - but against the very top opposition it carries a risk."

Gvardiol found life difficult up against James and Cole Palmer in the 4-4 draw against Chelsea, so Jurgen Klopp may opt to target the Croatian with Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold occupying those same areas on Saturday.

Huge test for Josko Gvardiol at Manchester City Gvardiol - who recently heaped praise on Rodri - has impressed in his 13 appearances for Manchester City following a PS77.6m move from RB Leipzig in August.

Nevertheless, if Gvardiol can shut down Salah and Manchester City secure all three points on Saturday, he will have proved his worth to Pep Guardiola, and then some.
