  • Struggles to make an impact against PSV in the Champions League knockout stage
  • German media scrutinize his performance and criticize his decisionmaking

Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho was in action on Tuesday night for Borussia Dortmund but failed to impress. Since heading back to the Signal Iduna Park in January, he hasn't quite set the world alight as expected. On Tuesday night, he had a huge opportunity to silence critics in the Champions League knockout stage against PSV. However, he struggled throughout the game and couldn't contribute significantly against his Eredivisie opponents.

In response, German media have reacted strongly to Sancho's performance. Sport1 gave him a match rating of 5/10 and criticized him for being overzealous and inaccurate with poor decisionmaking abilities on multiple occasions. They noted that he remained offensively pale due to his inability prevail during dribbles.

Spox also rated him poorly at just 4.5/10 while describing his performance as 'unhappy'. They pointed out that selfimage and rhythm were still missing from his game, resulting in uninspired actions leading only ball losses most of the time. Although there was one moment where he showed presence of mind after Can's ball win which led to their goal, overall it wasn't enough as they felt he went into hiding afterwards.

Ran echoed similar sentiments by giving him a match rating of 5/10 too. According Ran analysis', Sancho wasn't involved much throughout both halves of the game despite changing sides at halftime; thus having very few positive contributions or impulses towards Dortmund's gameplay.

Jadon Sancho's stats vs PSV

Sancho lasted 68 minutes against PSV on Tuesday night but had a lackluster performance. He completed just 15 passes, with only one pass into the final third and had 31 touches. Additionally, he was dispossessed four times and lost five duels while winning only two.

This disappointing display in such an important Champions League match raises concerns for Manchester United as they may struggle to offload Sancho this summer without facing financial repercussions. It remains to be seen how his loan spell will progress in the coming months.
