Teenager Harry Amass has been pictured training with Manchester United's first-team after Luke Shaw was ruled out ahead of this weekend's Premier League clash with Fulham at Old Trafford.

With Alejandro Garnacho starting over 20 successive games in all competitions, and with Kobbie Mainoo also one of the first names on the team sheet these days, Erik ten Hag is certainly buying into the 'if you're good enough, you're old enough' approach.

With his 17th birthday still three weeks away, however, the Manchester United boss is likely to have reservations about throwing Harry Amass in at the deep end too.

A place in the Red Devils' first-team squad would still represent a massive landmark moment in Amass' career, however, the summer signing from Watford spotted being put through his paces alongside Bruno Fernandes, Andre Onana and co ahead of Fulham's trip to Old Trafford on Saturday.

Ten Hag does still have Diogo Dalot, Sofyan Amrabat or Victor Lindelof capable of filling in for Shaw. The latter came on at half-time during the recent 2-1 win at Aston Villa. Perhaps a change of position for Antony could work?

But with Amass catching the eye at Carrington, it would not be a huge surprise to see United's number 70 feature among the substitutes for the very first time when Marco Silva's side come to town this weekend.

Amass trained with the first team earlier this month, and his presence in this latest session is especially notable in light of Shaw's injury.

Opportunity for teenager after Luke Shaw blow Man United reportedly fought off competition from Chelsea to sign England under-17 international Amass in August.

He has one goal and three assists for in the U18 Premier League this season, his all-action approach and his technical quality catching the eye of a fanbase enthused by the emergence of fellow teenagers Garnacho and Mainoo.
