Manchester United fans know about patience. There was a three decade-plus wait between league titles before Sir Alex Ferguson got it going.

And since Sir Alex Ferguson left, it has been 11 years of frustration. One Manchester United player, at least, is demonstrating that he has patience too, just like supporters.

It was January 2021 when Manchester United completed the signing of Amad Diallo.

Only now, in May 2024, are we beginning to see the best of the Ivorian winger.

Against Newcastle, he produced a superb performance, providing an assist and scoring a goal in a 3-2 victory.

He was praised on MUTV by former academy defender Phil Bardsley, who was blown away by his performance.

Bardsley said: "Amad has been absolutely terrific. He's causing absolute carnage on that right hand side and he's been a breath of fresh air since he has come into the team.

"He's been patient, and he's showing everybody that he belongs out there."

His thoughts were echoed by Mickey Thomas, who said: "We've got a player in Amad who is very quick and sharp. He would cause anybody problems."

David May added: "Amad... I'd love to know the speed of that by the way," in reference to his powerful strike.

For the first time in three years Amad has been given what he was waiting for, and he delivered Amad has never started back to back Premier League games for Manchester United, during his time at the club, until now.

He has finally been given the opportunity to do so, and produced the goods. All he needed was time.

Amad has spent spells on loan at Rangers and Sunderland, which have contributed to his development.

Now he needs a shot at Manchester United, and is finishing the season strongly. Don't rule out a start in the FA Cup final.
