In doing so, the starlet levelled Antony's goal and assist tallies for the entire Premier League season despite playing around 1000 fewer minutes.

Amidst the celebrations, supporters voiced their frustrations at the fact that Amad's starts against Arsenal and Newcastle in the last week were his first of the campaign.

And Ten Hag admitted that he only handed him an opportunity against Arsenal last week because Fernandes was a late drop-out.

Fernandes returned to action last night as a false nine, replacing Rasmus Hojlund, and was spotted actively mentoring Amad during the match.

After Kobbie Mainoo's opener, the United captain was spotted making a bee-line for Amad, applauding him for his role in creating the goal.

In March, Amad scored the most important goal of United's season, entering club folklore with a 121st-minute winner against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

After his incredible contribution to the 4-3 triumph, Ten Hag held his hands up by confirming he was right to be frustrated with his lack of opportunities this term.

"I'm so happy for him. He is one of the players with a huge setback this season, a bad injury, returning from it, but returning to a team where there is a lot of competition for his position," Ten Hag explained.

"He does not always get the time to play he deserves by his training performances but then he is coming on, then he shows his contribution, scoring a goal.

"But we know he can do it. We know he has the key moments where he can decide a game. I am very pleased he got the winner."

Hojlund's winning goal from the bench in the 3-2 win against Newcastle leaves Ten Hag with a dilemma for Sunday's Premier League curtain-closer at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Amad deserves to keep his spot and is quickly climbing the right-wing pecking order with every impactful performance.
