Man United to 'explore the possibility' of signing 18yo centre-back, could face competition for signature: report

Man United could look to land talented defender, Leny Yoro, this coming summer.

Manchester United will absolutely need to sign at least one new centre-half this summer. Raphael Varane will leave, while others may well follow, including Jonny Evans.

Several names have been linked with filling the void, perhaps none more so than Jarrad Branthwaite. However, one player we've covered claims about in the past is Leny Yoro. Now, the teenager's name is back in the headlines.

It's Give Me Sport with the information. They state that United are to 'explore the possibility' of signing the 18-year-old centre-back, who currently plies his trade for Lille in Ligue 1.

GMS believe that plans have been put in place to draft in reinforcements this coming window, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS look to hit the ground running at the Theatre of Dreams.

United have 'refused to rule out' the possibility of bringing Yoro to the Premier League, though they may face competition for his signature - from Real Madrid. The newly crowned La Liga champions may well be keen on bringing in the young Frenchman.

That said, Yoro is a top prospect. He'd be an unreal asset to any football club, while he's only going to improve over the next few years.

I like the idea of this move as you'd imagine Yoro would be considerably cheaper than the aforementioned Branthwaite. With money believed to be tight, it may make sense to make this move instead.

For any emerging player, I still reckon Old Trafford is among the premier destinations in world football. The Red Devils do have a great habit of developing young starlets, even in spite of all their recent faults.

Do you think a Man United move to sign Leny Yoro would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
