Manchester United and Arsenal will reportedly need to act swiftly if they intend to capitalise on the release clause in Jeremie Frimpong's Bayer Leverkusen contract.

Manchester United and Arsenal will need to act swiftly if they intend to capitalise on the release clause in Jeremie Frimpong's Bayer Leverkusen contract, according to a report. The 23-year-old wing-back has had an excellent season with the newly-crowned Bundesliga champions, netting 14 goals and providing 12 assists in their incredible 2023-24 campaign.

Die Werkself are now only three matches away from completing the entire season without a defeat, with one more league match at home this weekend, followed by two Cup finals.

However, despite playing a pivotal role in Leverkusen's historic season, Frimpong could depart the BayArena this summer, with several clubs eager to secure his signature.

Premier League giants lining up for Frimpong signature As per Bild, Premier League giants Arsenal, Manchester United and Frimpong's former club, Manchester City, are all keen to lure him away from Leverkusen.

Arsenal have been actively searching for right-back options, with Mikel Arteta looking to secure an attack-minded player to compete with Ben White.

The Red Devils, meanwhile, are believed to have already engaged in discussions with Frimpong's agent, while his exceptional performances have also drawn interest from Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.

It is understood, though, that the 23-year-old, who moved from Man City youths to Celtic is leaning toward a return to the English top flight.

Frimpong's current contract with the Bundesliga champions runs until June 2028 and includes a PS34m exit clause.

Leverkusen set firm deadline for Frimpong transfer decision However, the report adds that Frimpong's suitors now have a very narrow window to fulfil the release clause, with Leverkusen setting the start of the European Championships as the deadline for the player to make a final decision.

The Euros get underway on June 14, with Germany hosting Scotland, giving interested clubs just under a month to activate the release clause.

Should they miss the deadline, Leverkusen would have the opportunity to negotiate the player's fee, and they are likely to demand significantly more than PS34m for a player who has proven himself as one of the most exciting in his position across Europe.

Bayer Leverkusen are still gunning for a treble this season and meet Augsburg on Saturday in their final league game of the 2023-24 campaign before turning their attention to the Europa League final on May 22 against Atalanta.

Xabi Alonso's side will then bring their remarkable season to an end three days later when they face FC Kaiserslautern in the DFB-Pokal final at Olympiastadion in Berlin.
