10 players who could leave Man Utd this summer as Raphael Varane becomes first huge exit

Manchester United have already confirmed that Raphael Varane will leave the club and players following him out the door could hit double digits with huge changes expected

Manchester United are set for wholesale changes to their playing group this summer as INEOS continue to make their influence known.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has come on board and has already begun making changes off the pitch with a new CEO arriving and Dan Ashworth on their radar to become the club's director of football. United have, once again, underwhelmed and could still miss out on European football.

As a result, with a new era incoming, a host of players are likely to be moved on. Finances are likely to be tested whilst the majority of the current squad have failed to show they can lead United back to major honours.

Raphael Varane's departure has already been announced with the defender being allowed to leave once his contract expires in the summer. Despite arriving as a four-time Champions League winner the Frenchman has struggled with injury and been unable to form the backbone of the club's back four.

Casemiro excelled in his debut season in Manchester last term but questions were still asked about the length of his deal. Now, less than two years in, the Brazilian is tipped to leave with the club keen to axe him off the wage bill. Casemiro endured a horror showing in the recent defeat at Crystal Palace.

He is one of several players struggling to get the engine room firing which means they could be moved on. Christian Eriksen is another player who enjoyed a promising first year but may well be deemed surplus to requirements. Scott McTominay, despite coming through the club's academy and producing numerous big goals this term, could yet be sold if United were to receive a big fee for him.

Defensively United have endured their worst campaign for more than four decades. Injuries haven't helped their cause, but their personnel has also been questioned. Harry Maguire has long been tipped to depart and, depending on how he fares at the Euros this summer, a switch away could be on the cards.

Jonny Evans, now 36, has also filled in at centre-half but was only ever seen as a short-term solution. Victor Lindelof and right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka are two more names who may not feature next term, when a new manager could yet be at the helm.

The Brazilian forced his exit from Ajax in the summer of 2022 with United paying more than PS80m to land the winger. He scored on his debut but has largely been ineffective since that outing. Antony's performances have regularly fallen below the demands expected with his antics, including mocking Coventry after the FA Cup semi-final, often copping criticism.
