Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo and many others have reacted to some great news about a Chelsea player.

The Blues have mostly had a terrible season, but Mauricio Pochettino has managed to turn things around in recent months. There's now a small chance Chelsea could finish fifth, which would be an extraordinary achievement considering where they were at the turn of 2024.

One player, in particular, has been the driving force behind all the good things Chelsea have done this season.

Kobbie Mainoo reacts to news about Chelsea's Cole Palmer Chelsea signed Cole Palmer from Manchester City on summer transfer deadline day in 2023.

Everyone knew that the Englishman was a brilliant talent - he had shown flashes of his brilliance under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.

However, nobody would've expected him to do what he has done this season.

Palmer has scored 25 goals and provided 14 assists since joining Chelsea. That is an outrageous return, especially for a 21-year-old in his first season at a new club.

On Friday, the Premier League recognised Palmer's outstanding contribution to the Blues this season.

The attacker was named the Young Player of the Year, and he beat some big names to get the award.

Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, Kobbie Mainoo, William Saliba, Bukayo Saka and Destiny Udogie were all nominated, but Palmer was the chosen one and it's hard to argue against that after looking at his numbers.

The Chelsea star took to Instagram to celebrate his award on Friday. The likes of Mainoo, Levi Colwill, Christopher Nkunku and Lesley Ugochukwu showed him some love in the comments.

Erling Haaland is the Premier League's top scorer and likely winner of the title along with Phil Foden, while Bukayo Saka has been Arsenal's main man in their bid to become the champions.

Alexander Isak has had a prolific season as well for Newcastle United, and an argument can be made for each of them that they deserve the award.

However, Palmer's combined stats this season are arguably more impressive, so we think he deserved to win the Premier League's Young Player of the Year Award.

Here's how his numbers in the Premier League compare to the other nominated attackers.
