He was promptly banished from the United first team, but got offered a lifeline when Dortmund wanted to bring him back to the club that afforded him a positive platform during his formative footballing years.
Sancho has paid Dortmund back in spades, helping them reach the Champions League final following two impressive performances across the semi-final tie with Paris Saint-Germain. The Bundesliga side are hopeful of landing him permanently, though there is no purchase option in the loan contract and Sancho has given a clue that a United return is on the cards.
The Sun claim that Sancho has recently purchased a PS3.8m stunning mansion in Hale, Greater Manchester. The five-bed home with an indoor swimming pool and cinema comes with a catch though - it is only around the corner from where Ten Hag lives.
Sancho has been pictured at his new home, which is still under construction, and could be a clue that the player's long-term future lies at Old Trafford. He may enjoy living in Manchester and would like to own property in the area if he leaves United, but many will believe that Sancho has his sights set on the United first team again.

When asked earlier this month if Sancho's progress was being monitored, Ten Hag replied: "We are close in that process. We are visiting games, not only (Champions League semi-final) - (I) will not say all the games, but we have seen more games from Dortmund where Jadon was performing. We had a visit with him, we talked with him, and we will keep going with this process.
"There was a conflict and let's finish the season first. So stay away from this issue now - it is not important. He has the return (leg) of the semi-final, in the league it is not going that well for them."
