'100% approved internally': Romano confirms Man Utd want to sign £60m French attacker

Manchester United have fully approved a move for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise this summer, but they are likely to face competition for his services.

The Frenchman had an injury-plagued season with the Eagles, but he was still impressive with 10 goals and six assists from 19 appearances in the Premier League.

Olise has been linked with United lately and speaking to The United Stand, Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that a move has been 100 per cent approved internally.

The reputed journalist added that there will be competition for the attacker this summer which could delay his potential transfer away from Oliver Glasner's side.

He said: "Michael Olise is 100% approved internally, across the new footballing department. There will be competition for him this summer, which may not make any deal for him a quick one."

Olise could solve United's right-wing concern The Red Devils are likely to prioritise a new right winger with the limited creativity from the role.

Antony has been a huge disappointment since his arrival from Ajax. The Brazilian netted just one goal in the Premier League during the entire 2023/24 campaign.

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho is completely out-of-favour under manager Erik ten Hag after his fall-out. He is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund and could be sold soon.

Alejandro Garnacho has had decent success in the position with four goals and two assists from 16 games this season, but he looks more menacing from the left flank.

Amad Diallo has recently started in the role, but Ten Hag may want a more reliable option.

In our view, Olise would be a perfect solution for United. He managed 16 goal contributions from just 19 league outings despite missing half of the season with hamstring injuries.

Aside from his goal contributions, Olise has also excelled with his ability to win challenges. He won five duels per league game while completing more than two dribbles.

He currently has a PS60 million release clause in his contract, but a deal won't be straightforward.

Aside from the competition, it has been reported that Palace could have a say on the player's future and any club can't just activate the buy-out figure to sign Olise.
