Turkish club Trabzonspor have issued an official statement to deny reports they are trying to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

The 26-year-old only moved to Old Trafford last summer, but is already being linked with an exit at the end of the season, amid a lack of playing time under Erik ten Hag.

United paid PS4.3 million to sign Bayindir from Fenerbahce, with the goalkeeper signing a deal until 2027, with the option to extend his stay by an additional year as well.

The goalkeeper has subsequently been linked with a return to Turkey at the end of the season, with Trabzonspor the latest club to be credited with an interest in him.

Turkish outlet fotoMac even claimed Trabzonspor had already reached an agreement in principle with United for the transfer of Bayindir and official documents would be signed as soon as the summer transfer window opened.

However, the Turkish club have since issued an official statement to deny such claims: "The news in the national and local press regarding the transfer of professional football player Altay Bayindir to our club does not reflect the truth," it said. "Our club does not have any work regarding the player in question."
