David Beckham has opened up on his admiration for Jurgen Klopp following his Liverpool exit.

Klopp took charge of his final match as Reds manager on Sunday as Liverpool claimed a 2-0 win over Wolves. Even before the result, a third-place finish in the Premier League table and Champions League qualification were both already secured.

The Reds first appointed Klopp as manager in October 2015 following the departure of Brendan Rodgers. Klopp went on to win eight major trophies during his tenure including a Champions League and a long-awaited Premier League title.

Anfield bid an emotional farewell to Klopp and his backroom staff after the game. Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip were also given guard of honours as they prepare to leave the club this summer.

Arne Slot has already been confirmed as the new head coach for Liverpool, officially taking charge as Klopp's successor from June 1. Klopp's tenure as Reds manager will officially come to an end this month, and now he has received praise from a Manchester United legend.

Beckham, who made 394 appearances for Man United before leaving to join Real Madrid in 2003, has expressed his admiration for Klopp. The 49-year-old also admitted that his words of praise for the now-former Liverpool manager may not please some of Man United-supporting friends.

"I must admit, even as a Manchester United fan, I love Jurgen [Klopp]," said Beckham on the SmartLess podcast, where he was joined by Hollywood stars Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes. "I love his character, I love his personality, I love what he brings to the sport.

"I am going to get killed by some of my Man United friends, but I am sad to see him leave Liverpool. What he's done for the club and the sport has been incredible."
