Portugal have named their squad for the upcoming Euro 2024.

The tournament will kick off in less than a month in Germany and a lot of the nations involved have started to name their squad for the competition.

Hosts Germany surprised a few after Julian Nagelsmann made a brave decision to leave out some big names.

Meanwhile, the likes of France and the Netherlands have named strong lists of players as they bid to go all the way.

On Tuesday afternoon, one of the favourites and Euro 2016 winners Portugal named their squad.

Perhaps expected, former Manchester United and Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been included in Roberto Martinez's selection.

Premier League stars such as Diogo Jota, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias were also named in the provisional squad.

The Portugal provisional squad in full:

Diogo Costa, Sa, Patricio

Antonio Silva, Danilo Pereira, Dalot, Inacio, Cancelo, Nelson Semedo, Nuno Mendes, Pepe, Ruben Dias

Bruno Fernandes, Joao Neves, Palhinha, Otavio, Ruben Neves, Vitinha

Bernardo Silva, Cristiano Ronaldo, Diogo Jota, Conceicao, Goncalo Ramos, Joao Felix, Pedro Neto, Leao

Portugal were crowned European champions back in 2016 after a late Eder goal in extra time sealed a 1-0 win over France as the Stade de France.

Back then, Ronaldo was brought off with only 25 minutes on the clock after he suffered an injury.

Despite his injury, Ronaldo was busy on the touchline as he shouted instructions to his teammates alongside the Portugal manager Fernando Santos.

Heading into Euro 2020 as the defending champions, Portugal suffered a 1-0 defeat against Belgium in the round of 16 at the Estadio de Cartuja after Thorgan Hazard scored the eventual winner in the 42nd minute.

With Euro 2024 likely to be Ronaldo's last ever international tournament, the Al Nassr star will look to go out on a high.
