Man United target Evan Ferguson is unlikely to leave Brighton this summer despite Roberto De Zerbi's exit, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed Seagulls stars were surprised by the Italian's departure after just 22 months in the job.

Nevertheless, Brighton have devised a contingency plan and the search is underway for the right successor to De Zerbi.

The ex-Sassuolo boss nurtured a strong relationship with his squad and played a key role in the development of Republic of Ireland international Ferguson.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that there won't be a fire sale at Brighton this summer - and there is unlikely to be any high-profile exits.

That is despite the club's ownership having no problem selling their stars if they outgrow the club.

Brighton to reject Ferguson offers amid Man United interest Ferguson, who is highly coveted by Man United, missed the end of the 2023-24 campaign with an ankle injury and is yet to graduate as an elite Premier League goalscorer.

The teenager hit six goals in 36 appearances across all competitions, starting in just 18 of those outings.

In the 2022-23 campaign, Ferguson notched 10 goals and three assists in 25 appearances.

He is under contract at the Amex Stadium until June 2029 after penning a new deal last year (2023).
