Next Kevin De Bruyne to Man Utd? Sir Jim Ratcliffe urged to make transfer happen
Source:The Mirror:

Manchester United part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is preparing to make his first signings since taking charge of football affairs at Old Trafford earlier in the year

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has called on the club to move for Arda Guler, claiming the Turkish international could have an impact at Old Trafford comparable to Kevin De Bruyne's at Manchester City.

Real Madrid talent Guler has impressed for Turkey at Euro 2024, scoring one of the goals of the tournament to help Vincenzo Montella's team beat Georgia. It was just the second senior international goal scored by the 19-year-old, almost a year to the day since he scored his first against Wales during qualification for the tournament.

The former Fenerbahce starlet is coming off an impressive debut season in Madrid, albeit one involving plenty of time on the bench after recovering from injury, with his six La Liga goals coming at a rate of one every 62 minutes. With Kylian Mbappe and Endrick both moving to the Bernabeu, it remains to be seen how he will fit into the setup next term.

While there are no indications Madrid have any plans to part ways with Guler, Yorke has pointed to others who have thrived after leaving one big club to another. He uses former Chelsea players De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah as examples, with the pair quickly securing fan favourite status at City and Liverpool respectively.

"We've seen the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah leave a big club like Chelsea and it has benefited their careers, who is to say that Guler leaving Real Madrid to join Man United won't be a similar case? He needs an opportunity to play week in and week out.

"Everyone looks for an experienced, quick fix, but we shouldn't look past Guler who can become world-class. I'm all for Man United signing him."

United are also waiting for CEO Omar Berrada to begin work after joining from City Football Group, though technical director Jason Wilcox's move from Southampton has been completed. And, speaking to Bloomberg, Ratcliffe gave a clue to why things have been taking a while.

"It will take time," he explained. "Omar, Dan, Jason are key pillars of the sports side, we've only got Jason in place. We're sort of a bit handicapped in that sense, so I think we'll do a fairly good job. It will take two or three summer windows to get to a better place"
