What Should Manchester United Do With Casemiro This Summer?
Source:Forbes

Now that it looks all but certain that Erik ten Hag will remain at Old Trafford under a new contract, the Red Devils' senior management can begin to intensify transfer talks elsewhere.

Two players are currently being extensively monitored in Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton and Joshua Zirkzee from FC Bologna. The former is proving to be a difficult negotiation as the Toffees value him north of PS60 million, while the latter has a very attractive PS34 million release clause.

As well as focusing on incomings, there are a number of players that Manchester United will be looking to free up some space both financially and in terms of squad planning.

Reportedly, there had been contact made with Casemiro's camp from the leading Saudi Arabia clubs, but an official offer is still yet to be made. Given the Brazilian's wages are around the PS350,000 per-week mark, it will be a huge lift for the Red Devils to remove the sizeable yearly outlay and reinvest it into new acquisitions.

Manchester United have seen the best and worst of Casemiro across the two years that he has been at the club, from a stellar cup final appearance against Newcastle United to win the Carabao Cup, to not making the team in last season's FA Cup against Manchester City.

In what was a truly shocking Premier League campaign, Casemiro was consistently highlighted as a player that was waning and looking a number steps off the pace. Having been run through and around for the majority of the season, Man United's midfield was a constant negative talking point throughout.

The Red Devils are currently looking at a number of midfield options, of which SL Benfica's Joao Neves, Everton's Amadou Onana, and AS Monaco's Youssouf Fofana are among the targets; as well as Sofyan Amrabat, who spent all of last season at Manchester United on-loan from ACF Fiorentina.

Before they can move for players being brought in, they must, however, clear the books of those on enormous wages. It is of utmost importance that Manchester United find a new home for Casemiro sooner than later, along with Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood whom are destined to leave the club this summer.
