According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by the Manchester Evening News, AC Milan are looking at alternatives for Joshua Zirkzee.

Agreeing a fee with Bologna for their star forward, already deemed to be wanting a move to the Italian capital, is proving harder than expected for the Rossoneri, so they are eyeing up other names should they fail to land the Netherlands international this summer.

Samu Omorodion of Atletico Madrid as well as Lille's Jonathan David are deemed to be on Milan's shortlist now.

This hands the onus to Man United, who have also been linked with the Dutch forward in the past few weeks.

The former Bayern Munich player played a huge role in ensuring Bologna earned themselves Champions League football under remarkable circumstances in the season gone by.

Bayern also have a special clause in place should they choose to bring Zirkzee back.

Simply put, Man United do not need this. They have a projected young centre-forward in Rasmus Hojlund, and they ought to bring in an experienced forward to help him out and not another young player who will only hinder his game time since Erik ten Hag has so far shown no inclination to play two strikers up top.
