The Argentine legend turned 37 two days ago. Martinez, to commemorate his compatriot's birthday, featured him in a story alongside him on international duty.

Both Martinez and Messi are currently in the US for the 2024 Copa America representing Argentina as the Albiceleste look to reclaim their continental crown two years before returning to the States to defend their World Cup crown.

Argentina red-hot favourites for Copa America 2024 Messi's performance in Major League Soccer so far demonstrates that he could just as well have continued plying his trade in Europe if he wanted to. It helps that he has nothing left to win in the continent to choose North America as his current home.

With both Lisandro Martinez and Emi Martinez reinforcing the Argentina backline, and Messi continuing to provide breath-taking moments while receiving ample and able support from the rest of his squad, there's no reason why Argentina should not be considered favourites for the 2024 Copa America.
