Manchester United are considering a move to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich, talkSPORT understands.

Erik ten Hag is a big fan of the Dutch defender who is on a list of potential targets for the summer transfer window.

The Man United boss even named the central defender as his captain, making him the youngest-ever captain of Ajax at 19 years and 186 days old.

De Ligt went on to join Juventus in the summer of 2019 and spent three years in Turin before heading to Germany with Bayern Munich.

In his career, De Ligt has won league titles with Ajax, Juventus and Bayern, as well as the KNVB Cup in the Netherlands and the Coppa Italia.

This is after he was limited to just 30 appearances last term due to a knee injury.

Man United are also actively pursuing a deal to sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton.

The Toffees value Branthwaite at PS70million, with a deal for De Ligt understood to be much more affordable.

But deals for the two defenders will depend on outgoing transfers with Man United needing to recoup funds in order to boost their summer kitty.
