Manchester United continue to be linked with players as the transfer window starts to gain momentum and Erik ten Hag looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season. Centre-back is an area where United continue to look ahead of the departure of Raphael Varane.
One of the names to be linked with a move to United is Bayern Munich defender Mattijs de Ligt. The Athletic now report that United are 'seriously considering' making a move for the centre-back.
The Netherlands international is currently on international duty at Euro 2024, but has been an unused substitute for all three group games so far. He will hope to get some game time when the Netherlands take on Romania in the last 16.
United are said not to have started any negotiations with Bayern over a potential move, but De Ligt has emerged as a concrete target. He has previously worked with Ten Hag during the duo's time at Ajax.
The defender has three years remaining on his contract with the German club but a deal is said to be cheaper than other options, including Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite.
Elsewhere, Turkish outlet Fanatik claim that Galatasaray have submitted a EUR15 million (PS12.7m) offer for United dull-back Aaron Wan Bissaka and are waiting for a response from the Reds. It adds that if the bid is rejected, they will look to explore other formulas to sign the player.
The report also claims that the club has reached an agreement with the player over personal terms. That means that the club are now just waiting on a response from United to determine their next move.
Wan Bissaka has been with United since joining from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2019. He made a total of 22 Premier League appearances last season but has just one year remaining on his current contract at Old Trafford.
