Rumours continue to heat up regarding Matthijs de Ligt's potential move to Manchester United, and the Dutchman has already listed what he wants in a football club

Matthijs de Ligt revealed he wants to play in an attacking system and for bosses who really want him at the club amid the rumours linking him with a transfer to Manchester United.

The Dutchman is a key target for the Premier League giants, and a reunion with his former manager at Ajax is on the cards for the defender this summer, who is reportedly keen to make the switch from Bayern Munich.

It was only two years ago that De Ligt made the big-money move to Germany from Juventus after just three years with the Italian giants but the Netherlands international revealed what attracted him to Bavaria, which speaks to Sir Jim Ratcliffe now.

Speaking to ESPN following his move to Bayern, De Ligt opened up about the importance of a club's board showing their intense interest in you as well as his preference for a team's philosophy on the pitch.

"I think the club suits me really well, I think it's offensive football, hard training [and] high intensity, I think that's something that I really search [for] in a club and that's perfectly in my world."

Harry Langer/DeFodi) Should he make the move to Manchester, De Ligt will be pleased with the contract extension of Erik Ten Hag that commits his future at Old Trafford until 2026 as the Dutchman - who had just one more year left on his deal - admitted "lots of hard work" remains before United can once again challenge for the biggest trophies in club football.

"We must also be clear that there is still lots of hard work ahead to reach the levels expected of Manchester United, which means challenging for English and European titles."

United could secure De Ligt's signature for a mere PS40million, a stark reduction on the transfer fee of PS56million that Bayern forked out for his signature.

"In my discussions with the club, we have found complete unity in our vision for reaching those goals, and we are all strongly committed to making that journey together."
