The latest transfer talk from Newcastle United as the Magpies prepare for a hectic summer transfer window.

Newcastle United are reportedly one of several Premier League clubs set to disappointed in their attempts to sign Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy.

The 18-times capped Guinea international enjoyed a stunning season with the Bundesliga outfit as he plundered his way to 30 goals in as many appearances in all competitions. His performances meant the striker played a key role in helping his side end the campaign as runners-up in Germany's top tier and they will now look to prepare for a return to the Champions League during the upcoming season.

However, his spectacular return in front of goal and the presence of a reported PS15m release clause in his current contract have captured the attention of a number of clubs across European football. Newcastle were said to have monitored Guirassy throughout the course of last season as they looked to bolster their attacking options and the likes of Manchester United, West Ham United and Arsenal were also linked with a move for the in-form frontman. The quartet were given some hope of landing Guirassy as the striker delivered a major hit he would consider a move to the Premier League in an interview with the Guardian.

He said: "I cannot hide these things - everyone knows the Premier League is one of the most competitive leagues in the world. But at this time I don't close any doors. There are some very big teams in Europe and it's not focused only on the Premier League. At Stuttgart, we have such a good team and everything is possible in football. If we can continue to be humble like we have been so far then we have a good chance."

However, recent reports in Germany have suggested Borussia Dortmund are keen to keep Guirassy in the Bundesliga as they aim to build on the success that took them to the Champions League Final last season before the suffered a Wembley defeat against La Liga giants Real Madrid. Die Schwarzgelben have undergone a change in manager since the end of the campaign after they parted company with Edin Terzic last month and named former Liverpool midfielder as his successor just hours later.

Posting on social media outlet X (formerly Twitter), he said: "Borussia Dortmund have not yet triggered the release clause for Serhou Guirassy as some financial terms still have to be clarified! Therefore there's no total agreement between BVB and Guirassy at this stage. And no medical is scheduled yet. But we've been told that his transfer to BVB is not in jeopardy as Guirassy has decided to join Dortmund!"
