Barcelona want EUR100 million for Manchester United target Ronald Araujo As reported by Metro, according to Mundo Deportivo, Catalan giants Barcelona want at least EUR100 million to let Ronald Araujo go.
The 25-year-old is being chased by big names all over Europe, with Manchester United and Chelsea leading the race for his signature in England.
Barcelona's well-documented financial woes have many believing that they won't be able to play hardball for their players, but the Blaugrana are definitely interested in at least starting out that way.
Man United are looking to fill the void left by Raphael Varane, whose contract officially expires at the end of this month. The Red Devils have also been linked with Jean-Clair Todibo, Jarrad Branthwaite, and most recently, Matthijs de Ligt.
Araujo's current EUR7m-per-year contract at Barcelona is set to run until June 2026.
Matthijs De Ligt - United have opened talks with Bayern, but the price they feel is feasible is closer to 40m Euros + addons, similar to the offer made for Branthwaite. Also an understanding that the wages won't be as high as prior or a problem. Moving forward. pic.twitter.com/s54QzYUQvj
- UnitedMuppetiers (@Muppetiers) July 3, 2024 Barcelona may relent, but United are better off looking elsewhere Given their financial difficulties, their inclination to buy more players this summer, as well as the fact that the 25-year-old centre-back has only two years left on his contract, it is likely Barcelona will reduce their asking price by a bit. Under Joan Laporta, they have a track record of not sticking to their hard stances for very long.
Nevertheless, even if that were to happen, Araujo would still be a too-expensive move for United, at least when compared to the other names they have been linked with, even De Ligt.
More Manchester United News- All in all, United are better off looking for other options and let this one slide.
