Manchester United are one of the frontrunners to sign talented Hull City winger Jaden Philogene, according to reports.

The Aston Villa academy graduate is widely regarded as one of the most exciting players in the Championship and last season he recorded an impressive 12 goals and six assists in 32 league appearances as the Tigers narrowly missed out on the play-offs.

Philogene is already on the radar of the England team after scoring three goals in four games for the U21 team and is expected to make the jump up to the Premier League in the near future with the likes of Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town and Everton all keeping close tabs on the wingers situation.

The youngster's stock is already extremely high and it is likely that he will receive a significant pay rise if he is to go on an upwards trajectory to the Premier League. However, his agent hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons this week as he tried to fuel rumours of a possible loan move to Spanish giants Barcelona.

That's according to Total Barca's Twitter page, who claim that the player's agent showed up to their officers unannounced and started posting photos in the club's car park before eventually being asked to leave the premises by security.

Gerard Romero tweeted that the club's directors were "mystified" that they were being linked with the winger, as their top target is Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams after his heroics for Spain in Euro 2024.

Philogene is capable of playing on either flank and is very much a player that would fit into Sir Jim Ratcliffe's new transfer policy as he claims that the club are going to prioritise the development of young prospects for cheaper fees rather than signing a ready made player for a huge cost.

The winger is versatile and is capable of playing on either flank, meaning he will be great competition for players such as Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo, particularly at a time where Jadon Sancho faces an uncertain future.

Hull City paid just PS5m for Philogene which has been described as a 'real bargain' by former England winger Chris Waddle, who believes that the youngster would be better off making the move abroad to further develop his game.

"I'm certain Aston Villa will have a sell-on clause after letting him go for that price. A lot of clubs are looking at him.

"He had a great season with Hull scoring 12 and laying on six assists. He's only 22, so the potential is massive."

He added: "He's going to have some wonderful options and he deserves them. If I was him, I'd go to a club in Spain or Germany."
