A recent Derby County signing who has 'an eye for goal' was attracting interest from Manchester United before his transfer.

The summer transfer window has been open for less than a month but Derby County have already added three new names to their squad.

After finishing second in League One, Paul Warne has acted quickly to strengthen his side to give them the best possible chance of avoiding relegation from the Championship in 2024/25.

Ben Osborn was the first name through the door at Pride Park, signing from Sheffield United on a free transfer.

The midfielder's arrival has been swiftly followed by the additions of Kayden Jackson and Jerry Yates.

The incomings are not expected to stop there, though, with ex-Premier League goalkeeper Matt Ryan an option for the Rams.

Hull City winger Ryan Longman is also being looked at by Derby ahead of a possible transfer.

Manchester United were interested in Sean Corry It is not just Derby's first-team that is being improved this summer, with a young starlet joining their youth ranks.

Attacker Sean Corry recently signed a two-year scholarship with the club after Derby spotted him playing against England for Northern Ireland under-15s.

Mark Emerson, a former coach of Corry, has been full of praise for the striker recently, as per Derbyshire Live.

He said: "As a four-year-old at our Mini Soccer Centre you could obviously see that he had a bit of talent and an eye for goal.

"Sean was always a goal scorer and that trait never left him even though he played in various positions across the midfield and forward line which in turn has aided his overall development."

Before signing for Derby, though, the 16-year-old was attracting interest from a top Premier League side.

Belfast Live report that Corry had caught the eye of Manchester United prior to his transfer to Pride Park.

The Derbyshire outfit have a rather old squad, with several of their key players now in their 30s.

Their top scorer from last season, James Collins, is 33 years of age, while a number of their key defenders are also coming toward the end of their playing careers.

Derby have so far largely failed to address the issue of their ageing side in the current window as well.

Jackson is 30 and Osbourne is 29. While the duo still have a few good years left at the top of their game, it is clear there is no long-term transfer strategy at Derby right now.
