Man United are struggling to negotiate a fee with Bayern Munich to sign Matthijs de Ligt, though there is belief a deal can be agreed.
Manchester United Football Club will sign at least one defender this summer, as the Red Devils look to replace Raphael Varane.
It appears a move to acquire Leny Yoro is edging closer, though another defensive signing cannot be ruled out this summer.
Among the other names heavily linked with an Old Trafford switch is Matthijs de Ligt.
Now, Pete Hall has provided an update on that front via his X account.
He states that the transfer fee is proving to be an issue for United for the signing of De Ligt.
The Reds are trying to negotiate a smaller fee, as Bayern Munich want around PS45m to let the Dutchman leave this summer.
That said, there is still plenty of 'optimism' that a deal can be found this summer.

- Peter Hall (@PeteHall86) July 17, 2024 De Ligt will see himself pushed out of the team this upcoming season, as Bayern look to agree a deal to sign Jonathan Tah from their title rivals, Bayer Leverkusen.
The Dutchman, who has worked with Erik ten Hag previously at Ajax, appears keen on a move to the Theatre of Dreams.

He also feels like the perfect partner for Lisandro Martinez.
