Arsenal drop huge Man United transfer clue as Dan Ashworth makes £139m decision
Source: Manchester Evening

Erik ten Hag only has a few more days on the training pitches before Manchester United return to action. United will lock horns with Arsenal at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, United States, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Man United lost their opening pre-season clash against Rosenberg BK before returning to winning ways against Rangers a few days later. Unlike a few Premier League clubs, the Red Devils already have lots of minutes in the tank, giving Ten Hag ample opportunity to assess his squad.

After a disappointing campaign in the English top-flight, the Dutchman will be desperate to bolster his side. So, with that being said, the Manchester Evening News have rounded up the latest news and transfer gossip from Old Trafford on Wednesday morning.

Ashworth considers mass exodus United want to raise funds to welcome a few more new faces to Old Trafford this summer. According to ESPN, the club will consider offers for Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Christian Eriksen, who all have just one year remaining on their contracts.

The report states that Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Antony and Jadon Sancho could also leave the club if their respective valuations are met. While the latter has been reintegrated into Erik ten Hag's squad, ESPN claim that United have been asking for around PS40m for the 24-year-old winger.

Meanwhile, Transfermarkt currently values Lindelof, Wan-Bissaka, Eriksen, Maguire, McTominay and Antony at a combined EUR118m (PS99.2m). So, in theory, Dan Ashworth could raise almost PS140m in player sales, which could be used to significantly strengthen Erik ten Hag's side.

Manchester Evening News says: "Manchester United have every right to try and sell the seven aforementioned players. In an ideal world, Erik ten Hag can persuade Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay to stay at Old Trafford as squad players but I doubt they would settle for reduced minutes. At the end of the day, the Red Devils shouldn't recuperate in anything less than nine-figures for the seven players."

Arsenal drop transfer hint United have been given a major boost to their hopes of signing Chido Obi-Martin from Arsenal this summer. The 16-year-old striker, who has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford recently, was omitted from the Gunners' latest enrolment of first-year scholars for the 2024/25 season.

In an official statement on the club website, Arsenal named 11 players who will train at Sobha Realty Training Centre for the next two years and, interestingly, there was no sign of Obi-Martin. On Sunday, the Manchester Evening News reported that the Reds are working on a deal to sign the teenage sensation.

It's said that Obi-Martin visited Carrington last week ahead of a potential switch to Old Trafford. The Manchester Evening News understands that Man United are hopeful of completing a deal for the frontman, who would be given a scholarship with an agreement to sign a professional contract, if he decides to join and snub Bayern Munich and Newcastle.

Manchester Evening News says: "The writing is on the wall - I can definitely see Chido Obi-Martin leaving Arsenal this summer. Now, whether or not he joins Manchester United remains to be seen. Personally, I reckon he goes to Bayern Munich."
