Manchester United allegedly expect to receive formal offers for Christian Eriksen in the latter stages of the summer transfer market.
Manchester United are reportedly expecting to receive formal offers for Christian Eriksen in the latter stages of the summer transfer window, with clubs said to have made contact over a potential deal. Eriksen, 32, arrived at Old Trafford on a free transfer in the summer of 2022 after impressing for Brentford in the second half of the 2021-22 campaign.
The Denmark international was in strong form for the Red Devils in 2022-23, making 44 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and 10 assists in the process.
However, Eriksen found it difficult to secure regular starts last term, managing just one goal and three assists in 28 appearances for Erik ten Hag's side.
The midfielder was an unused substitute in the Community Shield last weekend, meanwhile, suggesting that he does not figure in Ten Hag's plans for the 2024-25 campaign.
Man United 'expecting bids for Eriksen' According to Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth, Man United are expecting to receive formal offers for Eriksen in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.
Sheth claims that clubs have been in contact with the 20-time English champions to discuss the details surrounding a possible move for the experienced midfielder.
Eriksen has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford, so he is likely to be available for a cut-price fee, with Man United bidding to sign a midfielder before the window closes.
The Red Devils are still said to be in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a possible move for Manuel Ugarte despite recent claims that a deal for the Uruguay international had collapsed.
However, Burnley's Sander Berge is also thought to be an option, in addition to Sofyan Amrabat, who spent last season on loan at Old Trafford from Fiorentina.
Should Man United keep Eriksen for one more season? Eriksen showed his class for Denmark at Euro 2024, and he was also a regular for Man United in the latter stages of last season, featuring in their final six league games of the campaign.
However, with Casemiro looking likely to remain at Old Trafford, the Red Devils are seemingly keen to move Eriksen on to make space for another midfielder.
There is an argument for keeping Eriksen for one more season, as Man United will be playing in four competitions in 2024-25, having qualified for the group stage of the Europa League.
Eriksen wants regular starts at this stage of his career, though, so it is best for all parties to cut ties this summer, with Ten Hag's side bidding to further boost their squad before the transfer window closes.
