It was announced on Wednesday evening that Fernandes had penned a new deal that would keep him at United until 2027, with an option of a further year.
Despite how integral the 29-year-old has been to the Red Devils since his big money move from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, it was thought that the new INEOS regime were open to selling the attacking midfielder this summer.
Reports suggested that the likes of Bayern Munich, PSG and Saudi Pro League sides were interested in the Portugal international who was officially made United skipper last summer.
And it appears that those rumours had some truth to them after all, with Fernandes himself revealing that he received offers to leave the club but always had his heart set on remaining in Manchester.
'Even because I was approached [by other clubs], the club was aware that there was a possibility of me leaving, I had concrete offers.
'I believe there is a dream future at this club with the changes that are taking place. That's why I chose to stay.

Fernandes has scored 79 goals and made 67 assists for United across 234 appearances so far, helping them win an FA Cup and League Cup.
He has started this season brightly with a great performance in the Community Shield despite Erik ten Hag's side losing on penalties to Manchester City.
And he'll be hoping to have another great impact when United kick-off the new Premier League season on Friday night against Fulham.
