'He will not train' - Arne Slot confirms two Liverpool players set to miss Manchester United clash
Source:Latest News

Curtis Jones will miss Liverpool's trip to Manchester United on Sunday.

The midfielder has been ruled out of the crunch clash at Old Trafford (16.30 BST). Jones has an unspecified injury, which meant he missed last weekend's 2-0 win over Brentford.

The 23-year-old is still to return to training and will not be involved in today's session to prepare to face bitter foes United. Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Liverpool head coach Slot said: "At the moment, there are not any other injuries apart from Curtis Jones. He will not train with us today. The rest will train with us today."

Meanwhile, it's unlikely that Federico Chiesa will be in the squad for the encounter against Erik ten Hag's United. The winger joined Liverpool from Juventus for PS10.9 million yesterday. However, he is lacking match fitness having been frozen out at Juve and will need to build up sharpness.

Chiesa is set to train with his new team-mates today at the AXA Training Centre but is unlikely to be involved at Old Trafford. Slot added: "He's going to train with us today but there's a bigger chance he's not in the squad on Sunday than he is. If injuries come up in the upcoming two days, we might need him. I don't expect him to be in but I can't guarantee it."
