Messi is now three prestigious awards above Ronaldo after scooping up a record eighth last night in the capital of France.

The two footballing icons have had an ongoing feud over the years as to who is ultimately better - which may have been put to bed over the last couple of seasons, with Messi still thriving.

But last night's Ballon d'Or victory for the Argentine must have rubbed Ronaldo up the wrong way.

In a post from Asteltelevision on Instagram, journalist Tomas Roncero analyzed Leo Messi's eighth Ballon d'Or - Ronaldo responded with four laughing emojis.

This indicates he was not happy with the result, deeming it, well - laughable. The comment has since been deleted.
