Omar Berrada arrived at Manchester United from Manchester City in the summer and had a very busy first summer at the helm alongside Dan Ashworth with a host of transfers being completed
Manchester United's fresh transfer tactic under Omar Berrada has helped save them MILLIONS this summer.
The Spaniard completed a move from Manchester City this summer to become one of a host of new faces to be welcomed to the club by new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. He was joined by Dan Ashworth, who finally completed a switch from Premier League rivals Newcastle.
The pair spearheaded a busy summer transfer window this summer, with five new faces arriving at the club throughout the window. The Red Devils spent around PS180m throughout the window.
Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui arrived in a double deal from Bayern Munich, while Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee were signed from Lille and Bologna. Man United rounded off their summer business with a move for ex-PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
He was also assisted by sporting director Ashworth, while technical director Jason Wilcox was an important figure. Director of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves handled the majority of talks with clubs and players.
And the four's stance on arrivals also saw them secure a number of bargains. As per ESPN, the Red Devils adopted a resolute stance on asking prices when it came to new signings. Berrada was disciplined on their valuations and believes that they have underpaid for their signings.
The club are of the opinion that they paid below the asking prices for all of De Ligt, Mazraoui and Zirkzee, while the Red Devils also managed to knock PS10m off of PSG 's demands for Ugarte. There was just one slight misstep when it came to their summer business.
Man United only overpaid on Leny Yoro this summer ( Image:
United sealed a PS52m deal for Yoro in July, beating Real Madrid to his services in the process. That price is thought to be over their initial valuation but he is perceived as one of the most highly rated young defenders in the world so the Red Devils gave themselves freedom to splash the cash.
Berrada has already emphasised the club's importance of sticking by their own valuations of players. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "We were quite disciplined about the valuations we were giving to the players who were going to come in.
"We stuck to those valuations. I think Dan and the team did a fantastic job in the negotiation process. And the reason I mention that is if you make a mistake and if you overspend or get a player who can cost you too much, it can set you back.
"Which is why you need to be able to take those decisions and make the right ones consistently over time to be in a position to win consistently. There will be some mistakes, it's normal there are certain factors we can't control. But all of the controllables, we are going to put our best foot forward to get it right."
