'They kept signing for 45 minutes': Zlatan Ibrahimovic names 'crazy' Manchester United chant as his favourite
Source:Manchester United

Zlatan Ibrahimovic spent less than two years at Manchester United but fans certainly took him to their hearts.

Jose Mourinho had quite the summer upon arriving at Manchester United in 2016.

Eric Bailly was a fine start but United then snapped up three big names with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba all arriving.

United won the Europa League in Mourinho's first season but the big-name influx didn't reap long-term rewards.

Mourinho was axed in December 2018, Pogba's second stint at United ended in drab fashion and Mkhitaryan was at the heart of the infamous Alexis Sanchez swap.

As for Ibrahimovic, he only played 53 games for United but certainly made his impact known.

Ibrahimovic was simply ridiculous in his first season at the club, smashing 28 goals in 46 games across all competitions.

MORE UNITED STORIES

The Swede scored twice in the EFL Cup final to hand United silverware and caused problems for defenders despite his advancing years.

Ibrahimovic suffered a nasty injury on United's road to the Europa League final and ended up leaving for LA Galaxy in 2018.

Ibrahimovic's Old Trafford stint may have been relatively short and sweet due to that injury but he clearly loved his time at the club.

Speaking on Hot Ones, Ibrahimovic noted that United fans conjured up the favourite chant of his career.

Ibrahimovic remembers that United fans just wouldn't stop singing his name on his debut and he was simply blown away as he hadn't really got going at Old Trafford yet.

Ibrahimovic added that he wanted to repay that support and put on a show for the United fans.

"I like the United one," said Ibrahimovic.

"The United one I had was crazy because, when they started to sing and it was my first game and I think I scored that game, and they were like 'six foot five, hard as ****', and then they kept going and I was like 'whoa, this is something else'.

"They kept singing for 45 minutes and I was like 'listen, I didn't even start to play my game yet!', but when you get that support, you feel obviously more strong, you bring it with you and you just want to give back. At the same time, I tried to put on a show for the fans, let's say," he added.

What is Zlatan Ibrahimovic doing now? Ibrahimovic decided to hang up his boots in 2023, fittingly ended at AC Milan.

Now 42, Ibrahimovic now serves as a senior advisor to RedBird Capital, the owners of AC Milan.

United actually left Ibrahimovic somewhat frustrated over the summer.

Ibrahimovic admitted his interest in luring Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna to Milan over the summer.

United won the race though, leaving Ibrahimovic and Milan to move onto another target in Alvaro Morata.

Who knows, maybe United and Ibrahimovic will end up discussing deals in the future, but he certainly has fond memories of his time at the club.
