Manchester United legend Andy Cole revealed that it felt like he was looking at a "superhero" after crossing paths with the best player he played against in his career.

Andy Cole is widely considered one of the best strikers in Premier League history and the Manchester United legend enjoyed incredible success at Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson snapped up the 52-year-old former United striker from Newcastle United in 1995 and Cole established himself as a key striking option at the club.

A defining moment in Cole's remarkable United career came with the arrival of fellow United legend Dwight Yorke at Old Trafford from Aston Villa in 1998.

Cole forged a memorable strike partnership with Dwight Yorke and the pair have become inextricably linked to Sir Alex Ferguson's treble-winning side in 1999.

During his time at Old Trafford, the former Newcastle and United striker lifted five Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and two FA Cups.

Cole's illustrious run at United came to an end in 2001 and the former England international went on play for the likes of Blackburn Rovers and Fulham.

Cole on best player he played against Speaking on The High Performance Podcast, Jake Humphrey asked Andy Cole who was the best player he played against in his longstanding playing career.

Former Manchester United star Cole didn't waste any time in singling out Brazil legend Ronaldo, who is widely considered one of the best strikers of all time.

Cole recalled how he crossed paths with Ronaldo when the Brazilian superstar played for Inter Milan and how he saw him in the tunnel at the San Siro.

The former Three Lions striker said Ronaldo was like a "superhero" and recalled how the Brazilian was dealing with a knee injury that plagued his Inter Milan career.

However, Cole admitted that the 48-year-old former Barcelona and Real Madrid striker played "only" 60 minutes and it was the best 60 minutes he had ever seen.

When asked about the best player he played against, Cole said: "R9.

Dream.

Everyone laughs at me.

"I played Inter Milan.

San Siro.

Quarters.

And they said he was struggling with a knee injury, which obviously he was.

"I remember looking at him in the tunnel, it was like a superhero.

People were looking at me like, 'Coley, you okay?' I was like, 'Yeah, yeah, I'm okay.

'"And he went out, I think he only played 60 minutes.

Best 60 minutes I've seen.

He was phenomenal.

"Ferguson missed out on Ronaldo at Man Utd Sir Alex Ferguson previously admitted that he had turned down the chance to sign Ronaldo in 1997 when the former Inter Milan superstar was at Barcelona.

Speaking in his 1997 book 'A Will to Win: The Manager's Diary,' Ferguson said: "Ronaldo's agent asked me a little while ago if I would be interested in the player.

"My first reaction was to wonder why Barcelona would sell such an important player after paying PS13m for him only last July.

"The agent said that there was no problem; there was a clause in his contract that allowed him to move if an offer came in above a certain sum.

He told me I wouldn't even have to talk to the club.

I could go straight to the Spanish FA.

"So, then I asked him about money.

I soon told him he was talking to the wrong guy, and that he should go and see the chairman and frighten the life out of him, not me!"It transpired that the fee would be around $32m, with a salary of $4m a year.

We are talking here about a PS20m transfer fee plus a pay packet of well over PS2m a year.
