Adidas see Leeds on par with Liverpool, Manchester United, columnist believes

A few days ago, a report from Footy Headlines revealed what Adidas has planned for Leeds United. Moreover, one columnist believes that the sportswear company sees the Whites through the same lens as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

Adidas aim to expand its 'Elite Team' category by bringing more clubs into the fold. Beginning in the 2025-26 season, these teams will wear authentic kits that showcase the iconic Trefoil logo on their third jerseys.

Adidas see the potential in Leeds as a partner This week, Footy Headlines also reported that Adidas and Leeds have agreed to extend the deal for at least one more season. As a result, the partnership will run until the end of the 25-26 season.

Furthermore, with two more years to agree on a long-term deal, Leeds All Over's Kris Smith writes that the company knows the Whites' potential, especially if they secure Premier League promotion, which is why they could put them alongside their top-tier clubs.

"Adidas' latest indications of elevating Leeds to an even more lucrative deal with the manufacturing firm only cements the idea of the Whites being a very strong commercial entity," Smith wrote in his opinion column.

"This doesn't mean Leeds will stay on with Adidas as they might want to explore new routes, but if Adidas are eager to place Leeds on similar standing to Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Manchester United, then it serves as proof of the club's potential.

"That only becomes a really viable argument if Leeds are actually in the Premier League from next season onwards, but if Adidas can sense the opportunity, the 49ers probably will be too."

It'll be interesting to see if this reported increase in status could pave the way for a long-term agreement. Leeds probably wants to keep their options open, especially since earning promotion to the Premier League would make them a more appealing club and help secure a lucrative deal.
