Man Utd coach Darren Fletcher could be in hot water with FA over ref rant

Former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher, now part of Erik ten Hag's coaching staff, made his feelings clear when Brentford took the lead at Old Trafford

Manchester United coach Darren Fletcher could face an FA charge after laying into match officials at half-time in the Old Trafford tunnel.

Referee Samuel Barrott forced United defender Matthijs de Ligt off in first-half added time to receive treatment for an earlier head wound he had suffered that would not stop bleeding.

Brentford's Ethan Pinnock scored from a corner while De Ligt was receiving treatment on the side of the pitch, with United furious at being a man down and conceding because of Barrott's decision.

United boss Erik ten Hag and his assistant Ruud van Nistelrooy were both shown yellow cards for their furious protests, with Fletcher still raging as the teams went off at half-time.

Former United midfielder Fletcher - whose son Jack was among the substitutes for the home side on Saturday - now faces an anxious wait to see if the clash is included in Barrott's match report.

If so, Fletcher could find himself in trouble with the FA for his expletive-laden tirade towards the match officials.
