Manchester United coach Darren Fletcher could reportedly be facing a charge from the FA after he berated match officials at half-time in the Old Trafford tunnel. Referee Samuel Barrott had ordered United defender Matthijs de Ligt to leave the pitch in first-half added time to receive treatment for a persistent head wound.

Brentford's Ethan Pinnock managed to score from a corner while De Ligt was off the field receiving treatment, leading to United's outrage at being a man down and conceding due to Barrott's decision. United manager Erik ten Hag and his assistant Ruud van Nistelrooy were both given yellow cards for their heated protests, with Fletcher continuing to express his anger as the teams left the pitch at half-time.

Tunnel footage revealed Fletcher arguing with fourth official Gavin Ward as Ward entered the tunnel at half-time, followed by 31-year-old Barrott and his assistants. Former United midfielder Fletcher, whose son Jack was among Saturday's substitutes for the home team, now anxiously waits to see if the incident is included in Barrott's match report.

If it is, Fletcher could find himself in hot water with the FA for his foul-mouthed rant at the match officials, reports the Mirror.

United came from behind to win, with Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund on the scoresheet. On Garnacho, Ten Hag said: "He has to (keep scoring) if he wants to be a better player.

"I know what he is capable of, that is why I play him so often. He is a threat and has scoring abilities but also a threat in one-v-ones, making key actions and giving assists to the team. The end product is definitely what we need and missed in the first games of the season."
