£36m Manchester United ace with 'world class' potential now suggested as potential Juventus transfer target

Manchester United invested in a new striker over the summer but questions are already being asked about Joshua Zirkzee.

Manchester United simply had to sign a new forward in the summer transfer window.

Anthony Martial said goodbye to United as his contract expired before completing a move to AEK Athens.

United decided to go for Joshua Zirkzee, a former wonderkid from his Feyenoord and Bayern Munich days.

The Dutchman impressed for Bologna last season as they qualified for the Champions League.

United splashed around PS36million on Zirkzee with Dan Ashworth praising his 'world class' potential.

The forward has shown decent technical ability and some sharp link-up play at times but hasn't really looked like scoring.

Zirkzee has scored just once in the Premier League and has squandered a number of good chances this season.

Now sat behind the returning Rasmus Hojlund, Zirkzee is having to make do with opportunities from the bench.

The 23-year-old will have to be patient but we are already seeing suggestions of a potential move away in 2025.

Paolo Di Canio suggested just last week that Juventus should make a move to bring Zirkzee back to Italy.

Luciano Moggi has now supported that idea whilst speaking to Calciomercato over in Italy.

Moggi, a former director at Juve, has suggested that Juventus simply must sign another striker to help Dusan Vlahovic with Nicolas Gonzalez better out wide.

Moggi suggested that Zirkzee could be a solution as a 'false nine', believing that he can get the ball moving in the final third for Juve.

"The team is certainly lacking in attack. We need to make a virtue of necessity," said Moggi.

"Nico could also play as a striker, but we need a centre forward. A false nine? Zirkzee is one, he moves the ball around very well," he added.

Bologna legend on Zirkzee Juve boss Thiago Motta coached Zirkzee at Bologna and will certainly be well aware of his talent.

We can't see United letting Zirkzee go any time soon though, having invested so much money into signing him just a few months ago.

Italians may want to see Zirkzee back in Serie A but he should be given time to adjust to the Premier League.

Former Bologna hero Beppe Savoldi certainly believes in that idea as he spoke to Tuttomercatoweb about the United striker.

Savoldi noted that so many players have struggled upon joining United in recent years.

The Italian feels that Zirkzee's talent is 'not in question' and that he deserves some patience - even if that is in short supply in England.

"Manchester is a great place: beautiful but complicated and in recent years many good players have struggled there," said Savoldi.

"Everyone would like to play in a club like that. It's not easy to establish yourself straight away: you have to give him time, but his talent is not in question. Zirkzee remains a great player who should be waited for, even if in England there is little patience lately," he added.

Zirkzee deserves a chance to shine at United and with Europa League and Carabao Cup games to come on top of Premier League action, opportunities should arrive.
