Manchester United's pursuit of Ruben Amorim will be ironic for West Ham United fans after their 2-1 win on 27 October cost Erik ten Hag his job.
BBC Sport reported on 28 October that in the wake of sacking Ten Hag after Jarrod Bowen's late penalty gave the Irons a controversial victory the day prior, the Red Devils are in talks to hire Amorim.
The 39-year-old Sporting CP manager was identified as a potential successor to David Moyes before the Hammers hired Julen Lopetegui, who has already come under pressure at the London Stadium.
Lopetegui and Ten Hag have both been facing calls for the sack for several weeks, but with Manchester United now in the hunt for Amorim having pulled the trigger, Irons fans will wonder what could have been.

West Ham United had pursued talks with Ruben Amorim before hiring Julen Lopetegui this summer The Hammers' pursuit of Amorim was labelled as "overly ambitious" by sources within the club [iNews, 1 May], but if he is hired elsewhere and hits the ground running, the club's ambition will again be called into question.
Hitting the ground running is the opposite of what Lopetegui start done in East London, with the late, controversial victory over Manchester United being just his fourth victory in charge so far.
