When Ruben Amorim could take charge of first Man United game as potential delay explained

Manchester United could reportedly have to wait until November for Ruben Amorim to arrive at Old Trafford - as they are yet to reach an agreement with Sporting CP over the terms of the 39-year-old's notice period.

It was confirmed by Sporting CP on Tuesday afternoon that United had agreed to pay the PS8.3m release clause in Amorim's contract ahead of a move to the Reds. However, the Daily Mail claims United are currently negotiating when the 39-year-old could start his role as Erik ten Hag's replacement, claiming his notice is a "number of weeks rather than days."

It means if Old Trafford chiefs are unable to reach a compromise with the Portuguese club, then Amorim would miss Sunday's game against Chelsea and perhaps not be able to oversee his first game as United manager until after the November international break.

United have already confirmed that Ruud van Nistelrooy, who served as an assistant to Ten Hag after returning to Old Trafford in the summer, will oversee Wednesday's Carabao Cup clash against Leicester City at Old Trafford.

However, the Telegraph claims that Van Nistelrooy might have no future at the club after Wednesday's game, with it being suggested "he expects to leave" once a new head coach is in place.

After Wednesday's last-16 clash against the Foxes, United welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday.
