Paul Scholes finally names ‘type of player’ Man Utd desperately need, he would unlock so much potential on pitch

Paul Scholes has dropped the ultimate praise on one player after Manchester United played out a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

Manchester United hosted Chelsea at Old Trafford and the Red Devils made the initial breakthrough against the Blues in Sunday's 1-1 draw.

Bruno Fernandes stepped up and successfully converted a spot-kick opportunity in the second half to put United 1-0 up in the 70th minute of the contest.

However, United's lead was short-lived and Chelsea climbed back into the match only four minutes later thanks to Moises Caicedo's stunning volley.

The 1-1 draw on the weekend was United's first Premier League match without Erik ten Hag, who was axed from Old Trafford last week after a poor start to the season.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has been acting as interim manager for United and led the Red Devils to a 5-2 win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup last week at Old Trafford.

The 48-year-old United legend is set to take charge of the Red Devils for the next two matches before his interim managerial spell comes to an end later this week.

Man Utd legend Scholes on quality player Manchester United are 13th in the Premier League table after their opening 10 league matches, with the Red Devils only managing three wins so far.

Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim will leave Sporting CP and succeed Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford on 11th November after the start of the international break.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Paul Scholes praised Moises Caicedo for the sensational impact that he had for Chelsea in the 1-1 draw.

Caicedo, who was linked with a move to United in the past, signed for Chelsea in 2023 after the Blues splashed out an initial PS100m fee for the ex-Brighton midfielder.

"Moises Caicedo is the type of player you want to play with, you need that type of player," Scholes said.

"He was probably the best out of the four [on the pitch]."

Van Nistelrooy looks ahead for Man Utd Ruud van Nistelrooy's interim spell will end after Thursday's Europa League clash against PAOK and Sunday's Premier League match against Leicester City.

The former United and Netherlands striker insisted that his full focus is on seeing out the Red Devils' next two matches ahead of Ruben Amorim's arrival.

"We are behind the new manager and everybody at the club is first of all focusing of course on the two games that are coming [PAOK and Leicester]," he said, as per Manchester United's official website.

"They are very important and we have to continue on the Leicester performance and the Chelsea performance.

"After that, we get behind him and work hard to make Manchester United better every day."
