‘A feeling’ - BBC pundit stunned by ‘bored' Rangers players during clash v Livingston

Rangers were "getting bored" in the second half of their match against Livingston, according to pundit Stephen Craigan.

Craigan made the claim after their Scottish Premiership encounter on Sunday (12 November), which the Gers won 2-0.

The goals came from Cyriel Dessers and James Tavernier, with the latter netting a penalty having missed also spot-kick earlier in the match.

"I think it was almost a feeling as if Rangers were getting bored in the second half, because there was nowhere to go, it was so congested, they went wide," Craigan said live on the Scottish Football Podcast (12 November).

"Rangers's spare players were at the back of the pitch, the two centre-halves. Ryan Jack and John Lundstram were unopposed.

"It was basically six or seven Rangers players against 11 Livingston players in and around the 18-yard box. There was no space to play in at all, so they were just passing it for passing its sake, hoping that something would eventually open up for them."

Important win

It may not have been the prettiest win under new manager Philippe Clement so far, but the man in the dugout won't have too many complaints.

The scoreline could have been improved had captain Tavernier netted both of his penalties, with his teammates also wasting chances on the road.

But two goals were scored and none were conceded as Rangers closed the gap at the top of the table on fierce rivals Celtic, which should delight Clement going into the international break.

The fact that the Gers were made to work very hard for all three points will also please the manager, given how the players were forced to be creative in order to break down a determined Livingston defence.

The upcoming international break has come at a frustrating time for the boss, who has enjoyed a superb start to life at Ibrox and will be keen to keep the momentum going.

In other Rangers news, one Celtic player is in a "race against time" to play against the Gers after a recent "double whammy."
