Report links Manchester United with strange move for ‘elegant’ player signed to help replace Hojlund
Source:Unitedinfocus

Manchester United are being linked with a move for Atalanta talent Charles De Ketelaere but we can't see a move happening.

The January transfer window is just around the corner and we are starting to see the rumour mill heat up.

Galatasaray right back Sacha Boey continues to be linked with a move to United whilst Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah is in the mix.

Jadon Sancho is expected to go in January with Juventus keen whilst Paris Saint-Germain are thought to be interested in Anthony Martial.

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe expected to be on board within days, United could have a busier January than initially expected...

Charles De Ketelaere linked with Manchester United move We now have another name to add to the rumour mill amid speculation surrounding Atalanta's Charles De Ketelaere.

Calciomercato claim that United are now rivalling Arsenal in the race to sign De Ketelaere in 2024.

It's suggested that De Ketelaere is interested in a move to the Premier League if Arsenal or United step forward with an offer.

MORE UNITED STORIES

A deal is a little complicated; De Ketelaere is on loan at Atalanta from AC Milan, with an option to buy at the end of the season.

That means a January move is unlikely and any deal would surely only take place once De Ketelaere's permanent future in Italy is resolved.

The Belgian hit 18 goals and 10 assists for Club Brugge in the 2021-22 season, showing off his versatility in the final third.

De Ketelaere played out wide, as a midfielder, as a number 10 and even up front as Club Brugge moved him all around.

AC Milan secured De Ketelaere's signature but he failed to score in 40 games for the San Siro side, becoming a real flop in Milan.

That's why Milan were so happy to send the 22-year-old to Atalanta despite Claudio Ranieri hailing him as an 'elegant' playmaker.

Atalanta ironically signed De Ketelaere to help replace Rasmus Hojlund following his move to United in August.

The reason why we can't see a move to United is that De Ketelaere isn't even starting regularly for Atalanta.

Six starts and five substitute appearances doesn't smack of a player who can help United go to another level in 2024.

Maybe United think there is untapped potential in De Ketelaere, but having struggled since moving from Belgium to Italy, we don't think a big Premier League move should be on the cards.
