'World-class' United star gets golden chance to impress after double injury blow
Source:Manutdnews

Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has been handed a golden chance to impress manager Erik ten Hag following a double injury blow.

Christian Eriksen picked up a knee injury during the 1-0 Premier League win over Luton Town before the international break and he is set to be sidelined for few more weeks.

United have suffered another setback ahead of the Everton game with Mason Mount also ruled out. He has sustained a calf injury which will keep him out for at least a month.

This is set to directly benefit Amrabat who has been an unused substitute over the last two games.

In Mount's absence, McTominay could be asked to play from the number eight role when United travel to Goodison Park to face Everton on Sunday.

This will open up a spot in the defensive midfield position. Ten Hag looks set to back the experience of Amrabat over Kobbie Mainoo in the role.

The Moroccan was a top target for the Red Devils last summer and they eventually signed him from Fiorentina by paying a hefty loan figure.

He has since struggled to replicate his performances from Serie A. He has been good with his distribution but has been prone to losing possession.

Amrabat has also managed just over three ball recoveries per game. Much more was expected from a player who stood out at the World Cup.

In our view, the injuries to Mount and Eriksen could be a blessing in disguise for Amrabat, who could finally get a regular run from midfield.

He has been handed a golden chance to prove himself to Ten Hag and United as well as convince them to trigger the buy clause in the summer.

Amrabat was described as a 'world-class' player by Morocco manager Walid Regragui at the World Cup and needs to step up for United amid the injury crisis.
